Check your script implementation

Script added in <head> tag

If you don't get an Editor when opening a project, you need to check that the script is implemented correctly. You do this by going to your website and right-click anywhere on the page and choose Page source.

Now search for sitegainer_ on this page by clicking ctrl + f (or cmd + f on Mac) and see if the implementation script exists on the website (see image). If you can't find it you need to add the implementation script to your website. Please check this link to see how that is done.

If you do however find the script on the page you need to check that the link work by opening it. If the link opens a new page that contains a lot of code it works. Then you need to check if the implementation script has the same ID that the website has in the dashboard. Skip down to see how this is done.

Script added with GTM

If you don't get an Editor when opening a project, you need to check that the script is implemented correctly. You do this by going to your website and right-click anywhere on the page and choose Inspect. This will bring up the browsers developer tools.

Now search for sitegainer_ on this page by clicking ctrl + f (or cmd + f on Mac) and see if the implementation script exists on the website (see image). If you can't find it you need to re-check if/how you've implemented this in GTM.

NOTE: that we do not recommend adding the script with tag managers because of the negative effect on performance. Do not implement the script with Google Tag Manager, this will make the script load after your website is loaded, making any changes you do also appear after your website is loaded, which might cause "flickering".

If you do however find the script on the page you need to check that the link work by opening it. If the link opens a new page that contains a lot of code it works. Then you need to check that the implementation script has the same unique ID that the website has in the dashboard. Skip down to see how this is done.

Check if the script ID match the website ID

If your inplementation script does not work

If you get an error message as the one in the image above you need to check that the ID in the script implementation match your website ID in the dashboard.

Get the website ID

Go to the dashboard and click My websites, now locate your website and see if the ID for this matches the one in your implementation script. This ID is unique to this website and need to match. If it doesn't change to the correct ID in your implementation script. Example;

<script type="text/javascript" src="//cdn-sitegainer.com/sitegainer_XXXXXXX.js" async></script>

If everything is in order please check if you can open an Editor manually on the website.
